Pet Parents

At Points East Veterinary Specialty Hospital, we know the bond you have with your pets is special. We take that seriously. We want to keep you connected to your pet’s health care by keeping you informed.

Whether you are here for surgery or emergency or hospitalization for critical care, we understand that you may be concerned about the process that you and your pet are about to undertake. Rest assured, the Points East team is here for you.

What to expect

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time. We remain dedicated to providing you with exceptional service while keeping you and our staff safe.

Upon your arrival at our facility, your pet will be assessed by our triage staff to determine if it is in stable condition or should be seen immediately by a veterinarian. Patients will be seen in order of urgency and will be evaluated regularly to ensure their condition does not change during wait times.

We ask for your patience and cooperation as we work to provide the best possible care for your pet.

If you have questions about this process, please feel free to call our office for clarification.

Consultation

One of our veterinarians will perform a full physical exam of your pet and give you a call to explain the conditions. A medical plan with diagnosis and treatment options will be provided, including a cost estimate.

Outpatient and Inpatient Care

Many pets who are treated may return home the same day to continue care with their primary care veterinarian. However, some patients will require hospitalization for their continued care. In the case of hospitalization, you will receive daily updates from a doctor and support staff about your pet’s condition. If you prefer, you may transfer your pet to your primary veterinarian for continued care during regular business hours.

Working with Your Veterinarian

We work as an extension of your general practice veterinarian when advanced or after-hours treatment is necessary. Points East Veterinary Specialty Hospital will provide your veterinarian with your pet’s medical record noting the care that was received during their visit with us.
