Saturday Urgent Care
Affordable Urgent Care Services for Non-Emergent Care
Appointment Only: Providing Urgent Care for Your Pet’s Needs
At Points East Veterinary Specialty Hospital, we understand that your pet’s health is a top priority, even during weekends and holidays. That’s why, in addition to our 24-hour emergency service, we are now introducing (on a trial basis) weekend urgent care appointments. This initiative aims to alleviate wait times in the ER while providing an extra option for pet parents, ensuring that your furry family member receives prompt attention when they need it most.
Emergency vs. Urgent Care
Understanding the difference between emergency and urgent care in veterinary medicine is crucial for providing the appropriate level of care for your pet’s condition.
Emergency Care
Emergency care is reserved for Priority 1 and Priority 2 patients, where survival is possible if immediate life-saving measures are applied. Examples of conditions requiring emergency care include:
-
Bloat (GDV)
-
Active seizures
-
Difficulty breathing
-
Urinary tract blockage
-
Heat stroke
-
Collapse
-
Allergic reactions
-
Vehicular accidents
-
Poisoning
Urgent Care
Urgent care is provided for Priority 3 patients who have non-life-threatening conditions but would benefit from treatment to improve comfort and healing time. Examples of conditions suitable for urgent care include:
-
Skin conditions
-
Ear Infections
-
Lameness/Limping
-
Abscess
-
Minor wounds
-
Sore eyes/ears
-
Eye Discharge & Squinting
-
Chronic diseases
How it Works
At Points East VSH Weekend Urgent Care, our primary goal is to ensure the well-being of your pet. If it is determined that emergency care is the correct fit for your pet’s condition during their urgent care appointment, we will facilitate a smooth transfer to our emergency service located in the same building.
Exam Fee Structure
We understand that unexpected veterinary expenses can be concerning. To ensure simplicity and ease for our clients, we have established the following payment structure for transfers from urgent care to emergency service:
Transfer Fee: $50
In the event of a transfer to the emergency service, the client will only be responsible for paying the transfer fee of $50. This ensures that your pet receives the necessary care without financial burden. This ensures that our clients are not penalized for choosing the wrong service. The $50 covers the difference between the ER Exam Fee and the Urgent Care Exam fee.
